Kui Kihoro Mackay, Name and Pronouns (She/Her)

Kũi Kihoro Mackay is a radical Black African feminist with 20 years of experience researching, teaching, training and campaigning for the rights of minoritised people.

Currently, Kũi is a PhD student at Royal Holloway University of London, having recently submitted and successfully defended her thesis on transnational identity construction and performance on social media. Prior to that she earned a Master of Science in Practicing Sustainable Development with ICT4D specialism from the same institution.

During her time at Royal Holloway She has taught undergraduate students, spoken at conferences and led workshops on intersectionality, digital Blackness, Critical Race Theory, and Black feminist work. In addition to this Kũi is also a Law graduate having earned an LLB (Honors) from Lancaster University.

Between graduating from Lancaster University and beginning her degree at Royal Holloway Kũi worked in the private sector and with NGOs. Her work has included providing Technical Assistance as a DFID consultant to the Nigerian Ministry of Finance on ethics and good governance and working with a quasi NGO and the Belizean Ministry of Human Development to enact legislative reform for minoritised people. Kũi’s commitment to racial equity and social justice has led her to undertake a range of voluntary positions including serving as an executive member of the Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrats (EMLD), a race equality advocacy & lobbying group working to achieve Black and ethnic minority representation.
