Wellness For Black People

Our wellness initiatives focus on supporting Black communities through the Give Black Fund and wellness practices offered by our Founder, Belinda, through B Well Accra. By funding community projects and promoting well-being through yoga, we are dedicated to empowering and uplifting Black people.

The Give Black Fund

Borne out of our commitment to an ethics of care, we have established the Give Black Fund. The aim of the fund is to ensure that the underrepresented communities we care about, particularly the Black community, receive direct benefit from the work we do.

We now invite all prospective clients to consider making a voluntary donation to BRK Ujima, with the amount of their choice, to reinvest back into the community. The funds raised will be used to provide and/or fund free or low-cost services to Black and other marginalised groups.

We offer contributing organisations the opportunity to have their logo or name displayed on our website, indicating that they have donated to the fund. We will provide timely updates and reports to all donors.

Finnikin Home Improvement

Finnikin Home Improvement impressed us with their innovative approach to fostering Black joy in the workplace. Their project focused on creating moments of bonding and fun for colleagues, demonstrating how joy can be cultivated even in professional settings. Finnikin’s social media presence and customer reviews showed the positive impact they have on their community, further reinforcing the value of their work.

RevolYOUtion

RevolYOUtion moved us with their resilience in finding joy during a difficult transition. As they prepared to wind down their operations, their Rev Round-Up event, which brought their community together for food and dancing, served as a perfect example of Black joy. Their ability to celebrate amidst change highlighted the strength of their community and their dedication to joy.

Black Farmers Market CIC

In addition, we were so impressed by a third applicant, Black Farmers Market CIC, that we personally funded their project with an additional £300 from our Co-Founders Fund. This community-rooted initiative had immense potential to bring joy to Black people through collaboration and innovation. While we had some questions about the project’s budget and scale, we were eager to engage further and invited them for discussions on how to best support their vision.

Yoga in Accra with Belinda Baah

As a co-founder of BRK Ujima, Belinda Baah is deeply committed to wellness for Black people, particularly Black women. In addition to her work with BRK Ujima, Belinda offers her own vinyasa-style yoga practice through B Well Accra in Ghana. Her sessions focus on balancing strength and stillness, catering to both beginners and intermediate practitioners.

Belinda’s yoga practice is rooted in inclusivity and holistic well-being, creating a welcoming space where participants can reconnect with themselves and prioritise their mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Whether you’re looking for individual guidance or group sessions, she offers personalised experiences designed to meet the needs of diverse clients.

While B Well Accra is a separate venture, it aligns with Belinda’s personal mission to promote self-care and community empowerment, values she also champions through her work with BRK Ujima. Her yoga sessions embody the duality of yoga—strong yet soft, anchored yet agile, focused yet free—and offer a transformative journey of wellness and joy.
